couch potato

I’m officially moving into my NYC digs tomorrow and let me tell you, I could not be more excited. The one thing I must, must, MUST get on top of is finding a new couch. The problem is that I’m so picky (to give you some perspective, it’s on my 101 list - not normal).

Couches are a huge investment so I want to find something will hold up AND that I won’t tire of easily.  While the one we had in Miami was oh-so-comfortable, it was coming apart at the seams and always looked disheveled. I mean how sad did it look in my Glitter Guide shoot? Thanks to those of you who were kind enough to phrase it this way, “it looks so mushy!”

So now, I’m looking for something completely different. Tailored, sleek, sophisticated. Below are a few of the options I’m going to visit today and I’d love to get your opinion (seeing as I’ll have to live with this decision for a long time). Which would you select?! I’m leaning towards number 2 (not in white), but I’m totally open to any of the other options too… Help!

p.s. several months ago I was interviewed for a piece in LUXE Interiors + Design Magazine (the South Florida edition). How apropos that it finally came out a few days after I moved back to NYC? I LOVE the watercolor they did to accompany the piece and the little outfit they invented for me! Don’t even get me started on the Aroc Urtu emerald necklace…

    Numbers 2 and 3 are my favorite! I am moving into my NYC apartment on Friday and just picked out my sofa last weekend so I know how difficult of a decision it can be!

    I like the last one! I personally prefer couches with a higher back – at least up to shoulder level, so it’s comfortable to lean back and rest your head if you feel so inclined. But of course, that’s just opinion. :)

    I am loving #2 and #3…I like the shape of #2 but loving the tufted look of #3! I agree that couches are so hard! Definitely a big investment! I’m sure whichever you choose will be great! Can’t wait to see :)

    I love #1, and it’s a very comfortable couch as well. We have a different, structured Crate and Barrel couch that we like, but we had wished we’d gone with the Petrie. I would also check out Room and Board!

    My favorite is definitely number 2, then number 3 and I guess that I like 4 because of the nail trim, otherwise is just another regular couch. We got ours from West Elm, and I love them ;)

    I love 1 + 2- these are both gorgeous! I would recommend going a darker shade though and can attest that if you let your pooch on your couch, its gonna show the dirt! Congrats on the feature- this is such a cute illustration of you! xx

    There’s something to be said about a squishy sofa. I love a tailored look but I want to sink into a sofa too. It’s so difficult to do the right thing, and you’re right huge investment. I’ve been thinking about replacing mine, but I keep adding pillows and hoping that will help it.

      Teri I totally agree with you! In the end, I realize I need to sink into a comfy sofa. The tufted couches I sat on were SO rigid. #2 was the perfect compromise!

    I have couch #1 and LOVE it! I’ve had it for several years and it still looks great! I paired mine with the Blu Dot Barbarella Long Coffee table and it looks really sleek.

      YES I bought number 2! So here’s my honest opinion… I love how streamlined it is BUT the back cushions are slightly overstuffed and sometimes feel a little all over the place. I’m toying with the idea of maybe taking out a little stuffing? Or I’m sure they will go down with time and use.
