Decorating with Dishes

I’ve always loved the look of dishes hung on a wall. There’s something charming and homey about them, plus I’ve never been one to turn away from a good collection. In my own living room I have a grouping of John Derian‘s decoupage trays. Every time I pop into his store I leave with another treasure – it’s become a bit of an addiction!

To my delight, I recently happened upon the work of ceramicist Molly Hatch who creates the most lovely hand-painted plate “paintings” that she installs in groups. Insta-collection! I would love to own a set of Molly’s dishes to hang in my kitchen or future dining room but until I’ve saved enough pennies to do so, I think I’ll head over to Anthropologie to take a peek at some of her more affordable pieces…

Beautiful. I have several rooms in my home where I’ve used dishes as wall art. I hung them when we moved in and didn’t have a lot of money to spend on actual art, and they’ve just…stayed. It’s so easy and so economical. And easy to change around!
