brightly blooming

I spotted this gorgeous floral photo the other day on ruffled while I was hunting down wedding inspiration and fell head over heels in love.  I think I could happily live in this photo forever… Then I proceeded to go on a wild goose chase, searching for items to match up with the photo’s palette.

And speaking of florals (because you know I’m going to remind you every single day until Friday) have you entered the boxwood topiary giveaway yet? If not, what are you waiting for?!

happy weekend + a new site + a giveaway!

Good morning, good morning and welcome to the new Chevrons & Stripes friends!  Whaddya think?!?!  I’m absolutely smitten with the re-design and want to give a huge shout out to Hanna Seabrook of Gadabout for making it everything I’ve always wanted – easy to navigate, modern, and cleanly designed with a few unique touches.

I liken changing up my site to sprucing up a home (after all this is my virtual home), so in the spirit of sprucing, I got you guys a little gift. One that’s sure to breathe new life into any space!

I’ve loved these adorable topiaries from the new Design Darling boutique since the day they arrived in Mackenzie’s shop.  Not only are they the perfect addition to any home, but they’re super low maintenance, requiring just one spritz of water per month.  I think that means even I can’t kill these… Until I move and purchase one of these lovelies for myself, I’m so excited that one of you lucky readers will be able to enjoy one in your own home! Below are a few different ways people have styled their topiaries, aren’t they gorgeous?

happy weekend!

Well it’s been a whirlwind week in the best possible way but I’m still completely ready for all the weekend has to offer.  I want to thank both Design*Sponge and Christen Maxwell for being kind enough to feature me this week and for sending some of their readers my way!

While the details are still under wraps, I’m excited to let all of you who’ve asked for a home tour of our new place know that it’s coming soon.  We had a photo shoot here yesterday and I’m SO excited to see the final pics.  Below is a little sneak peek to tide you over until the full home tour comes out.  I bought some hydrangeas to add a little life to our place from this great floral shop I found nearby called pistils & petals.  Their work is absolutely gorgeous so if you have a chance to check them out, be sure to do so!  We’re off to the Heat game tonight and they’re playing the Knicks – my old home vs. my new home – so exciting!  Have a fantastic weekend.

When I was home in NYC this past weekend I got my wish to experience a taste of white winter.  It snowed on and off on Saturday and I cozied up fireside in my PJs to catch up on a bit of blog reading and internet scavenging.  Somewhere in the middle I came across the work of designer and prop stylist Dietlind Wolf.  I had originally bookmarked featuring her snow white table setting but now that I’m back in sunny Miami her work with sunflowers seems so much more fitting {and after all, they are my favorite flower!} – click through to see the entirety of the spread, it’s mind-bogglingly gorgeous!

happy weekend!

I hope you’ll all excuse this week’s spotty blog posting – I’ve been super busy since I got to NYC on Tuesday night.  Lauren and I have been hard at work shooting the first half of the Fall collection and it’s looking so so good!  I can’t wait to share it with all of you.  If you’ve been following along on Instagram then you’ve already gotten a little sneak peak…

The forecast for tomorrow in NYC predicts snow and I’m hoping I get my wish to experience at least a little flurry just once this Winter.  I’m back in Miami on Sunday so it’ll be back to regular programming next week. Until then, have a fantastic weekend!

p.s. I took the photo above at one of our vendors in the West Village, Albertine.  They recently started stocking the loveliest bouquets (in addition to fab jewelry and clothes) so if you’re in the area, be sure to stop by and check them out!
